SWAN ————————————————————————————————————————————— Birth: 1808, Buffalo, NY US The Canadian Census of 1842 indicates that Henry Swan had been in Canada from 1830. There were Eight people in the household at that time, two of which were from the United States. Their oldest child was born in 1837. Marriage would be before this time. Actually since M. Margaret LOWELL was from Canada one might think they met between 1830 and 1837, possible in Drummondsville. The Swan house was on the corner of Erieus Street and Waterloo Street. The Northwest Corner. From the town map this is Erieus Street Lot 26 West, 66" X 165' In 1869 Lloyd Hill and his wife Catherine purchase land in Bayham township land from Elisha Newell using a Mortgage from Henry Swan for $550 Henry Swan was a Mail Contractor in Port Burwell in 1870 A Hy Swan also lived in Port Burwell in that year. I also remember that Garndmother rented out rooms at some point. She was a strict methodist, never drank liquor. But she used to put up grape juice in Ball jars which I remember as being rather tangy. I remember during WWII meeting a group of young people at Grandmother's. Some of them we soldiers and they promised to bring their jeep back and give me a ride. I don't remeber who they were.
